<![CDATA[Judy Bozone, Composer - Blog]]>Tue, 15 Mar 2016 09:41:51 -0700Weebly<![CDATA[Something Completely Different.]]>Tue, 19 Mar 2013 17:10:26 GMThttp://www.judybozonemusic.com/blog/something-completely-differentMy songs-in-progress have resulted in a hailstorm of singing and playing. In particular, turn-of-the century love songs with words about nature supported by thin and obvious accompaniments alongside current european electronic pop chart hits.

I have recently become much more compositionally involved in my curiosities about electronic music. What began as a music theory study on timbre is turning into a hands on fascination... I can't stop wondering if I can make something I would truly like, and I feel questions need answers, so I tinker on.

Generally, when I compose, I write for acoustic instruments - and I'm very good at that. But I'm aware enough to admit that my reasons for acoustic only composition or electronic only composition is, at best, a vague decision on my part - It's something that just happens. A fundamental preset of some sort?

I've been working with sounds I've never really approached before - and it's exciting!

I'm not sure if I'm playing or composing right now. But it's fun!!

Time will tell.

<![CDATA[Dallas on my mind]]>Thu, 31 Jan 2013 18:40:11 GMThttp://www.judybozonemusic.com/blog/dallas-on-my-mindI'm looking forward to going back to Dallas for a performance of The Man and The Whale.

Going back home is something I always look forward too, especially as a respite from the snow! The middle of January is the perfect time to head to 'warmer waters'. I'm also excited to visit with friends, musicians and family nearby.

(Note: I will be in the area February 7th through Valentine's Day)

<![CDATA[Commitment.]]>Wed, 23 Jan 2013 18:16:59 GMThttp://www.judybozonemusic.com/blog/commitment
Really getting going on the organ piece... however, by really getting going, I mean perfecting the sixteenth based time in a single measure.

To me, the beginning of the note-filled portion of writing is a promise of sorts,

"I, the composer, will take great care to make you, the music, the best you can be as my mind decrees."

and,

"I, the music, will reveal myself through various powers of persuasion."

"I, the composer, will not get tired or lazy; even when you, the music, will seemingly disappear."
"I will fix."
"I will not relent."
"I will edit."
"I will not keep you to myself"

That's a commitment.
